While working in some of UK's top medical institutions, witnessing the hardships of Liver transplant patients and their painstaking ordeal, spending huge amounts of money, Dr. Kancherla Ravindranath realized the urgent need for a Liver transplant facility in India.
Deeply touched by the plight of hundreds of patients' and inspired by his late Father's advice to come back to serve India, Dr. Ravindranath relinquished his very successful practice in UK and returned to India to establish Global Hospitals.

Dr. Ravindranath earned his Doctor's degree from Sri Venkateshwara Medical College, Tirupati, AP, India in 1980. He went on to complete his Masters in Science from Madras University. In a span of five years, Dr. Ravindranath accomplished Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons from Glasgow & Edinburgh and become one of the most sought after surgeons in India and abroad.
After getting an FRCS, Dr. Ravindranath had worked at various hospitals and went on to become the Head of Gastroenterology Department at Apollo Hospitals from 1990 to 1999. He was called upon to grace the position of the Founder-Member & Treasurer of Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons Association of Asia in Singapore, and thus became the first Indian to occupy the coveted position. He was also the Hon. Secretary of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons from 1998 to 2000.
Dr. Ravindranath was also the Vice President, Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia from 2002 to 2004. He officiated as the President of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons from 2002 to 2004. He was also the Organizing Chairman of Asia Pacific Congress of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia in 2007.
Apart from being the Chairman and Managing Director of Global Hospitals Group, Dr. Ravindranath holds multifarious positions. He is a Trustee on the Board of Hyderabad Eye Institute, which is the operating trust of L.V. Prasad Eye Institute; the Director on the board of Rainbow Children's Hospital; the President of the Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, and the Trustee of the Indian at Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES).
Dr. Ravindranath has had opportunity to work at the Oesophageal & Gastric Surgery Department at Memorial Hospital in Darlington, U.K. With his reputation as a fine surgeon and a fabled touch, Dr. Ravindranath was involved in Liver Transplantation procedures at Kings College Hospital, London, UK. He has had extensive experience of Hepatobiliary& Pancreatic Surgeries at Hammersmith Hospital, London. Dr. Ravindranath excelled in Colorectal Surgery at St. Mark's Hospital, London. His reputation as a specialist in Surgical Gastroenterology has gained acceptance across the globe. He has also served as guest faculty at workshops and conferences all over India and in countries like Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S.
With Global Hospitals gaining recognition as India's first comprehensive multi organ transplant centre, Dr. Ravindranath has gained the reputation of being a pioneer in various surgical and developmental projects. He developed India's most comprehensive Hospital dedicated for Gastroenterology and a center to efficiently conduct the complicated procedure of organ transplantation. He has performed over 20,000 laparoscopic procedures – perhaps the highest in the country! He has also performed many procedures like Laparoscopic vagotomy for peptic ulcer, laparoscopic rectopexy, laparoscopy assisted APER, laparoscopic hydatid cyst surgery, and laparoscopic hepatectomy, making him the first surgeon to attempt and successfully complete these procedures in India. With extensive experience in surgeries, Dr. Ravindranath has become an authority in liver, pancreatic and bile duct resections, revision gastric surgeries, and reconstructive coloproctology. He has trained over 700 surgeons in laparoscopic procedures.
A philanthropist at heart, Dr. Ravindranath has been involved in numerous social activities that has made him well-liked among the poor and respected among the rich. He has constructed a High School in Chiramana Village, Aspet Mandal of Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, India and named it after his father Late Shri. Seshaiah Naidu. He was responsible for construction of a hospital for the poor. Dr. Ravindranath has also been a champion for the cause of Dalits and backward classes and has built a housing colony for the people of the community.
