Accomplishments

Global Hospital’s Institute of Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery is one of the first few institutions in India to pioneer and popularize Laparoscopic Surgery, especially laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Having performed record 50,000 procedures in a decade with outstanding results, the institution not only believes in practicing, but also in sharing its knowledge with hundreds of surgeons, gynecologists and urologists from around the world by providing them academic training and hands-on experience.

Among the several firsts to the team’s credit are Asia’s first thoracoscopic cancer esophaegectomy in 1992 and India’s first laparoscopic colonic surgery in the same year. Some other achievements include:

• The first group in the world to perform SILS Cystogastrostomy
• The first group in India to perform SILS Proctocolctomy, SILS Distal Pancreatectomy
