Accomplishments
Global Hospitals’ Institute of Advanced Gastroenterology & Therapeutic Endoscopy has many achievements to its credit.
In Andhra Pradesh, it is the only unit recognized for the new procedure STARR (Stapled Trans Anal Rectal Resection), which is done for obstructed defecation syndrome. This procedure has been done in Europe and America for the last 7 years and only been introduced in India recently.
The achievements of team members at the institute include:
- Dr. K. Ravindranath: He is a renowned Surgical Gastroenterologist with over 23,000 surgeries to his credit, perhaps the highest in the country.
- Dr .S. Palaniappan MD DM is the first person to have started Endoscopic Ultrasound modality. He pioneered Endoscopic Ultrasound in Tamil Nadu and is among the few in the state of Tamilnadu with very rich experience and skill in this modality since last 4 years. He is also an acknowledged expert in all Endoscopic therapeutic interventions.
- Dr. Ravindra B S, Gastroentrologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist, is one of the few gastroenterologists trained in doing therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, leve EUS guided pseudocyst drainage and pancreatic stenting with ERCP, which is almost noninvasive. EUS guided rectal abscess drainage was recently done at Bangalore, making it one of the few centers in India to successfully complete the procedure.
