Researchers at Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute are developing alternative tissue replacement strategies to prevent the need for harvesting donor tissues during reconstruction. Areas of interest include the development of nerve conduits for peripheral nerve surgery. A wide variety of clinical trials are ongoing, including fibrin sealant glue for wounds, cultured epithelium for skin grafts, and non-contact ultrasound for determining the depth of burns.
